Single-origin specialty coffee can cost over $30 per pound, more than five times the average price of 1 pound of ground coffee in the US. “Specialty” is the term for the highest-quality coffee, and aficionados describe its taste with words more frequently used by sommeliers, like “floral” or “fruity.” Reaching this level of quality requires investment and labor at every step of production. But despite the prices a roasted bag of single-origin coffee can reach in the world’s wealthiest countries, the farmers who handpick each coffee cherry struggle to earn a profit. We went to Kenya to find out what it takes to grow high-quality coffee, and why it’s so expensive. this is why all farmers in kenya should take a degree of business.. dont be 100% farmer they'll get exploits
Coffee beans are the most expensive item on my grocery list lol with a whooping £40/kg 😅 but it brings me some sort of joy
Sorta hard to really tell whats single origin or not. Coffee roasters/companies can just slap on a label that says "single origin" and sell it for a high price
In my village/town we don't really have any processing facility, the local government doesn't really care and farmers are forced to sell Green beans at around $1.5 to $2.
It's been my dream to be able to open a facility to hopefully help farmers get a better price and living conditions.
While I know the money needed would not be small, I'm still hopeful.

Single origin beans are actually quite cheap. Cheaper per gram when you brew it vs your starbucks cup. Only those that are they consider specialty grade are taking the premium.
Nothing beats second harvest
How much is a pound in non-retard units?
yeah coffee is probably one of the most expensive in the world but farmers can't get enough wages they should deserve, and farmers should get any benefits or insurance like health insurance, so they can do their job at it best
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one watching this while sipping a hot cup of coffee 🤣
Kenya is specialty SL28
Id rather pay the farmers more rather than these hipster twats that make all the profit
I don't think it is "so expensive", it's just a fair price. Make the world a favour and start buying specialty coffee.
Interesting that you chose Kenya instead of Ethiopia.
Single origin coffee is usually grade A selection. For grade B usually is blended with coffee of other origin, so lower price tier. I prefer single origin since every origin has it's own aroma signature.
could you make a video on coffee beans from india?
what is the song that starts around Dmpnrtey3YU&t=4m26s 4:26 ?
