Jack Bogle transformed the investment management industry. Over a career lasting nearly half a century, Bogle was a crusader for individual investors, working to bring the interests of asset managers in line with those of their investment clients. In 1975, Bogle founded the Vanguard Group, structuring the business as a mutual company, meaning that Vanguard is owned by the funds it manages and, as a result, the funds' investors. A year later, Bogle and Vanguard introduced the first ever index mutual fund available to the general public, aiming to track the performance of the broader market while charging the lowest fees possible. At first, many in the investment industry snickered at Vanguard's new index funds, but over time Bogle's idea took hold. While maintaining some of the lowest fees in the business, Vanguard has grown its assets under management from $1.8 billion at its founding to $5.3 trillion as of September 30, 2018, making Vanguard the second largest asset manager in the world. Despite Vanguard's incredible success, Bogle didn't become fantastically rich. Instead, Jack passed on as much savings as possible to Vanguard investors, bringing fees for his funds to razor-thin levels (and dragging the rest of the fund market with him). As a result, Bogle helped all investors get better returns on their retirement savings, drastically reducing underperformance caused by high management fees. As Bogle said in 2012, "My ideas are very simple. In investing, you get what you don't pay for." All investors are indebted to Jack Bogle for his efforts over 40+ years to make the investment industry better serve the interests of individuals. As we remember Bogle's life and his contributions, we hope you'll enjoy this conversation between Bogle and Motley Fool Motley Fool CEO Tom Gardner recorded in 2016. Jack Bogle's 10 Investing Principles -- (John Bogle Founder of Vanguard)

These are Jack Bogle's 10 investing rules for success. John C Bogle, known to his friends as Jack is the founder of Vanguard. The company which gave birth to the very first index fund. Recommended Stock & Crypto Brokers 💰 US - Get 2 FREE stocks when you deposit $100 with WeBull: 🤍 💰 UK - Get 1 FREE stock with Trading 212 - 🤍 💰 Get $10 of FREE Bitcoin when you invest $100 with Coinbase - 🤍 Jack launched Vanguard with only $1.5 Billion of AUM. Amazingly, for nearly 20 years, Vanguard struggled but Jack Bogle kept on his mission to educate investors on the power of indexing. Over the last 2 decades, index fund investing at Vanguard has exploded to $6.7 Trillion of assets under management.  Jack Bogles 10 Investing Rules 1. Remember Reversion to the Mean. Selecting your fund from yesterday’s winners is not smart. Over the long term, reversion to the market average is inevitable. 2. Time is Your Friend. Start early, stick to a plan and ignore all the noise. Let the miracle of compound interest work for you. 3. Buy Right and Hold Tight. Once you set your asset allocation, ignore the moves in the market. You can't time the market peaks and troughs. Stick to the plan. 4. Have Realistic Expectations. Rates of return in the coming decade are likely to be lower than the last. A 7% annual return before costs and inflation for stocks and a 2.5% return for bonds before costs and inflation is reasonable. 5. Forget the Needle, Buy The Haystack. Don’t take the risk of buying individual stocks. Cut your risk by investing in a broad-based index or ETF. 6. Minimize the Croupier’s Take. Every time something is bought and sold a middle-man takes a slice. Minimize fees by investing in low-cost, low turnover funds. This increases your return. 7. There’s No Escaping Risk. There’s no wealth without risk. If you don’t invest, you’ll end up with nothing. And your savings will be depleted by inflation. 8. Don’t Fight the Last War. What worked in the past is no predictor of what will work in future. Past performance does not mean future performance. Past fund managers will likely not be the best future fund managers.  9. The Hedgehog Beats the Fox. Foxes know many things. They represent financial institutions that sell complicated products and charge high fees for advice. A hedgehog knows one thing and when threatened — they curl up into a spiny ball. Simple, but effective, like an index fund. 10. Stay the Course. The secret to successful investing isn’t forecasting or good stock picking. It is about making a plan, sticking to it, eliminating unnecessary risks, and keeping your costs low. Whatever happens, you must stay the course.  _ Subscribe Learn more about money and investing. Vanguard Founder Jack Bogle's '90s Interview Shows His Investing Philosophy

18.01.2019

Vanguard founder Jack Bogle was famous for making investing accessible to the everyday person through index funds – funds that match a market barometer like the S&P 500. His message was simple: why waste money on expensive fees and commissions for complex funds when market barometers often outperform them? That message remained remarkably consistent throughout his career. Jack Bogle needed hefty amounts of brainpower and market know-how to put together the first index fund. But for investors wanting to cash in on his idea, it's become pretty easy. In 1975, the founder of Vanguard Group, who died Wednesday, was able to turn a long-held belief into reality, namely that it was far more profitable to follow the market than fight it. Most mutual fund managers who picked stocks couldn't keep up with basic benchmarks like the S&P 500, much less beat them, he found. So he turned his thoughts into action, putting together the first fund that simply followed the S&P 500, minus a small management cost that was much cheaper than the active funds of the day. » Subscribe to CNBC: 🤍 About CNBC: From 'Wall Street' to 'Main Street' to award winning original documentaries and Reality TV series, CNBC has you covered. Being panic and getting out from bear markets usually gets the opportunities away from investors. John Clifton "Jack" Bogle was an American investor, business magnate, and philanthropist. He was the founder and chief executive of The Vanguard Group, and is credited with creating the first index fund. An avid investor and money manager himself, he preached investment over speculation, long-term patience over short-term action, and reducing broker fees as much as possible. The ideal investment vehicle for Bogle was a low-cost index fund held over a lifetime with dividends reinvested and purchased with dollar cost averaging. His 1999 book "Common Sense on Mutual Funds: New Imperatives for the Intelligent Investor" became a bestseller and is considered a classic within the investment community.

John C. Bogle, the founder of Vanguard, now the largest mutual fund company in the world and the creator of index funds, which account for 28% of all stock mutual funds. We have a special treat for you this week- an extended interview with one of a kind investment legend, John Bogle. Jack, as he is known to many of us, is the founder of Vanguard, the low-cost investment giant famous for the index funds which he created there in 1976. His first index mutual fund, now named the Vanguard 500 Index Fund because it is modeled on the S&P 500 market index, now has over $100 billion in assets, as does its equivalent fund for institutional investors. It’s growing rapidly because of its low cost, largely passive investment model. Called a mutual company, Vanguard is the only mutual fund company owned by its fund investors, not private or public stockholders. Bogle set it up that way as he puts it to insure it would act as a pure “fiduciary”, putting the interests of its investors first. One measure of that goal is costs. According to Vanguard, the average expense ratio for its stock funds is 0.2% of the assets under management, or 20 basis points -100 basis points equals one percent- that compares to the industry average of .79%, or 79 basis points, nearly three times more. Fees at actively managed funds are usually considerably higher than that. Investors are taking note. The well-publicized withdrawal from more expensive actively managed funds into index funds has accelerated over the last two decades and exploded in the last couple of years. From $26 billion in 1993, traditional index funds now have over one trillion in assets. Their much younger and incredibly popular offspring, exchange-traded funds, which are index funds traded like stocks, have exploded from $464 million at their launch in 1993 to well over a trillion, surpassing their older mutual fund brethren. In total, index funds now make up 28% of total stock fund assets and counting. From the very beginning of his career, Jack Bogle has been a tireless advocate for individual investors and an outspoken critic of much of the money management industry. It’s the focus of his tenth, and he says last, book titled The Clash of the Cultures: Investment Vs. Speculation. I’ll begin the interview by asking Jack about the changes that have occurred in the industry during his 60 plus year career and what it was like when he started in the business in 1951, at the actively managed and still thriving Wellington Fund. This is our full, unedited interview with Jack Bogle- you won’t want to miss his timeless words of wisdom! WEALTHTRACK # 921 Published on November 15, 2012. John Clifton "Jack" Bogle (May 8, 1929 – January 16, 2019) was an American investor, business magnate, and philanthropist. He was the founder and chief executive of The Vanguard Group, and is credited with creating the first index fund. An avid investor and money manager himself, he preached investment over speculation, long-term patience over short-term action, and reducing broker fees as much as possible. The ideal investment vehicle for Bogle was a low-cost index fund held over a period of a lifetime with dividends reinvested and purchased with dollar cost averaging. In this video he talked about in his opinion, what an ideal portfolio looks like. He also discussed his own retirement portfolio. Basically he held a 50/50 bonds/shares portfolio in his retirement plan. Feel free to share this video with a friend if you found it helpful. Full Playlist: 🤍 - - Watch more How to Dance to Reggae Dancehall videos: 🤍 So, Right now Damian is going to demonstrate how to do the bogle. With the bogle, your extending your arms and rotating your arms in a circular motion. You can lean back with it and isolate the chest while your doing it as well. And if you feel like you got this step down path, if you want to get a little more technical with it, you feel like you can go to the advance versions. You spread out the arms, you go down a little bit lower and add some footwork to it. You can move up with it, bring it back, chest isolation, bogle. Extends the arms, circular motions. Lean back, do the limbo, its like doing the limbo, rotate arms, leg movement. Switch the legs.
